The leader of SS501 and current solo artist Kim Hyun Joong has proved his mettle in Japan, having beat out both Lady Gaga and Beyonce to nab the number one spot on the Oricon weekly chart for foreign albums!
This achievement is especially surprising considering that Kim Hyun Joong has yet to officially release a formal Japanese album.
Following his ranking in first place, Lady Gaga placed second with “Born this Way” followed by Beyonce with “4“.
“There was much interest in Japan when there was news that Kim Hyun Joong’s first mini album would be released in Korea,” said a Japanese representative. “With Kim Hyun Joong’s roles in ‘Boys over Flowers‘ and ‘Playful Kiss‘, we predict that the Hallyu star will have even more success if he were to release a formal album.”
